Prepping for my second sit of the season tomorrow, this one really got me. "When you are worrying, you are no longer hunting." I'm definitely guilty of thinking of my wife and the milkman in the tree and even though I know it takes me out of my reasoning for being there, it still creeps in.

Saved this one for future reference.

Jack- I agree; its a constant in my head, especially when I'm in a tree. On the ground following a fresh track, it seems a little easier. Lately, I've been thinking about this focus on the task at hand as well as the faith needed to stay in that focused place. Good luck out there.

Great post, Jesse. The more time I spend in the woods, the more I appreciate and relish the stillness. A successful kill just makes it even sweeter.

"Your wildest dream can happen today. The track that you are on begins to look better, your eyes are sharper, you can smell the woods - it's coming together now." LB

Live this Jesse, it applies to so much more than hunting! It applies to whatever we’re doing.

Have you read "The Tracker" by Tom Brown jr? While he's a bit more poetic than Benoit, there is a level of mysticism in his writing that has always resonated with me.

I haven't, but have added it to my reading list. Thank you for the recommendation.
